On the evening of 31 August 1938, a daring robbery took place on board a mixed goods train travelling from Cloncurry to Duchess. It is believed that two men on horseback stole two mail bags full of miners' wages.
The Great Train Robbery Investigationruns at regular times throughout the day, from 11 September to 10 October and is a great way to entertain the grandchildren. In this 'whodunit' adventure they can become a Deputy Detective and work with the Workshop's Police Inspector to investigate the mystery of the missing miners' wages.
At the Workshops Rail Museum, North Street, North Ipswich. Contact: 3432 5100 or go online to www.theworkshops.qm.qld.gov.au. Admission is free (after general museum admission).
